Some days I feel like I know exactly what im reaching for and my purpose and my calling seems clear. Some days, especially these days I find my self lost inside, alone and wandering the corners of my mind. It's like the sun stopped shining in.
How do I get myself to shift this state of mind? Sometimes I drink tea, sometimes I snuggle my dogs, sometimes I just stare out the window and watch for a sign in the clouds, sometimes I call a trusted friend so I can laugh about dumb things, sometimes I run as fast as I can until I'm breathless, sometimes I go on u tube and listen to @littlemisssunshinneee sing, sometimes I sneak and hug Tabors squish mallows, and sometimes I sit and breath and just BE with all the loss and letting go and change. This is life, my life. The sun is not always shining in, but I do trust it will come back out as long as I lean into the little precious and tender joys that fill my life.

Through Abhyanga (body oiling) I would have to say my most essential self care practice is medical body oiling. My nervous system has been rattled to the bone this last year, so it has come to be my boon on a whole new level. If I skip my body oiling practice I REALLY feel the aftermath. I’m telling you this because I want to remind you of the magic and healing powers of this very simple practice. The benefits of doing abhyanga extend throughout the day; it protects the nervous system and provides an overall sense of embodiment. This becomes a practice of self-love that radically reduces stress and anxiety. After warming up the oil, start from your face then move onto the neck, chest, arms, abdomen, back, legs, feet, and soles covering your entire body. Move from the top of your body down to the soles of the feet in strokes towards the heart massaging the joints in a circular motion. Practice centering yourself on any affirmations for the day. Leave the oil on for 10-20 minutes then shower, bathe, or towel off. Do not scrub the oil off. Body soap is not necessary because oil is cleansing. Gently tap dry with a towel to allow the oil to continue doing its magic throughout the day.
